Dr. Milind Dattatraya Modak is a highly experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon in Pune. With over 30 years of experience, he currently practises at the Yogesh Hospital, of which he is also the proprietor. Besides, he is also the Head of the Orthopaedic Department and the Department of Alternative Medicine at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. An alumnus of Jnana Prabodhini Prashala, Fergusson College and BJ Medical College (Pune), he acquired an MS in Orthopaedics in 1985 and the MNAMS accreditation in 1986. He has also had advanced training as an AO Fellow in Switzerland, during which period he visited the USA in Jan/Feb 2004. He also trained in Australia in the areas of joint replacement surgery, unicompartmental knee replacement, advances in joint replacement and revision surgeries.

Dr. Modak's areas of interest and expertise include routine orthopaedic and trauma management, fracture management by AO principles, arthroscopy knee/shoulder/small joints/joint replacement (Bipolar, THR, TKR) and articular surface hip replacement. Dr. Modak began his career as a Consultant at the Hardikar Hospital from 1986 to 1988, and has also worked with Prof. PVA Mohandas in Chennai.

Dr. Milind Modak has been deeply entrenched into research and has had the distinction of devising an orthopaedic implant, besides having acquired another research patent.     Research

  • Devised an orthopaedic implant "Biaxial Fixation". For management of proximal third fractures of the femur and operated on more than 250 cases using this implant.

  • Patent on "A method of manufacturing artificial bone implant" Aug 2001. Granted in Sep 2006.

  • Cinical drug trial for osteoarthritis knee. Co–coordinated with Vedic Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.

  • Under trial study on: Incidences of deep vein thrombosis in lower limb trauma and knee surgery.

  • Study: Effect of Suryanamaskar on body systems.

  • Study: Hip fractures in the elderly managed by joint replacement vis-a-vis osteo synthesis in view of morbidity and mortality.

  • Under trial for clinical study of lumbago treatment called "Patch It". In coordination with Vedic Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.

  • Drug Study: Role of Symphytum in fracture healing.

  • Drug Study: Ayurvedic drug in the management of osteoarthritis of the knee (double-blind with Diclofenac).
